The Ethereum Foundation (EF) is doubling down on its commitment to network privacy and security. In a move that highlights this growing focus, the organization has officially appointed Pascal Caversaccio—better known in the crypto community as “pcaversaccio”—to its executive board. As the co-founder and lead of the rapid-response crypto security group SEAL 911, Caversaccio brings a wealth of hands-on experience in threat mitigation and decentralized security to the Ethereum ecosystem.
Shaping Ethereum’s Strategic Vision
Caversaccio joins the board on a voluntary, initial one-year term. He takes his seat alongside three established industry figures: Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, EF President Aya Miyaguchi, and Swiss counsel Patrick Storchenegger. Together, this four-member board essentially acts as a security council. Their primary job is to protect the Foundation’s core mission, guide its long-term vision, and ensure the organization remains fully compliant as a Swiss non-profit foundation.
For those active in the space, Caversaccio is already a deeply respected voice. He is a long-standing Ethereum contributor and a member of the Foundation’s Silviculture Society, an informal advisory group dedicated to open-source development, censorship resistance, and privacy. He is also a recognized author and thought leader, having penned “The Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto” in 2024 and “Ethereum Privacy: The Road to Self-Sovereignty” in 2025.
Making Privacy a Non-Negotiable Protocol Guarantee
This leadership update reflects a much larger strategic pivot for the Ethereum Foundation. Back in June, the EF made it clear that privacy and security were taking center stage, officially describing both elements as non-negotiable guarantees for the protocol. Bringing a dedicated security expert onto the board is a strong signal that the Foundation is ready to turn those promises into reality.
With this renewed organizational focus, the Foundation’s protocol team is now gearing up to translate complex theoretical research into actual network upgrades. Future development will heavily prioritize integrating layer-1 privacy directly into the base protocol, alongside implementing post-quantum security measures. By embedding these protections into the network’s foundation, Ethereum aims to secure its core promise of self-sovereignty and censorship resistance for all users.
