The world of decentralized finance just gained a powerful new tool for transparency. Popular crypto analytics platform DefiLlama has officially integrated the market-maker leaderboard from Forgd, providing users with a comprehensive look at the institutions driving crypto liquidity. Through this partnership, everyday users now have seamless access to crucial market data, including spreads, market depth, trading volume, and overall uptime.
Originally launched in May as a specialized tool to help token projects select and monitor liquidity providers, the leaderboard is now accessible to the wider public. By tapping into this dashboard, investors and project developers can easily compare market makers across various exchanges and accurately assess the real liquidity supporting individual tokens.
How the New Dashboard Empowers Crypto Analytics
The strength of Forgd’s leaderboard lies in the sheer volume of information it processes. The ratings draw on data from more than 500 token projects and 35 established market-making firms that actively use Forgd’s toolkit to monitor their liquidity engagements. By processing this massive amount of data, the dashboard can rank crypto market makers using standardized measures of pricing, depth, reliability, and execution quality.
For the team at DefiLlama, this partnership is all about giving users better tools to make informed decisions. Ryan Celaj, DefiLlama’s head of research, noted that the integration adds a vital new signal for evaluating market resilience and execution quality. Instead of relying solely on basic metrics like trading volume and locked liquidity, users can now look under the hood to see how well the market makers are actually performing.
Understanding the Market-Maker Ratings
While the leaderboard provides an incredible snapshot of market health, it is important to understand exactly what the ratings represent. The grades assigned to these firms do not solely reflect their observed trading performance. Instead, they also serve as a measure of a firm’s willingness to be transparent and share their internal data.
Forgd CEO Shane Molidor clarified that a lower grade on the index is not necessarily a judgment of a firm’s actual trading capabilities. Rather, a lower score often simply reflects that a market maker hasn’t yet fully opted into Forgd’s performance verification process. Essentially, the leaderboard ratings heavily factor in the amount of data a market maker is willing to provide. Although the financial terms of the integration between Forgd and DefiLlama were not disclosed, this collaboration clearly sets a new standard for data transparency in the cryptocurrency industry.
