REX-Osprey SOL + Staking ETF Debuts on CBOE Exchange
On July 2, 2025, a major milestone was achieved in the U.S. crypto investment space with the launch of the REX-Osprey SOL + Staking ETF. Traded on the CBOE exchange, this marks the first U.S.-approved Solana ETF, and more notably, the first American ETF that integrates staking rewards, offering investors both price exposure and passive income.
The ETF allows traditional investors to gain access to Solana (SOL) without needing to manage private keys or set up a wallet—while also benefiting from staking rewards that Solana network participants earn by securing the blockchain.
Within just 20 minutes of launch, the ETF recorded an impressive $8 million in trading volume. By the end of the trading day, volume soared to $33 million, and the fund attracted $12 million in capital inflows, indicating strong early demand.
SOL Price Rises, Broader Market Reacts
Following the ETF’s debut, Solana’s price increased by 2%, and its market capitalization rose nearly 7% over the week, reflecting renewed investor confidence. The impact extended beyond Solana itself. Meme coins and AI-related tokens also experienced significant price gains, likely fueled by increased retail and algorithmic interest in digital assets.
Although trading volume for the new Solana ETF fell short of Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs, it still outpaced similar futures-based ETFs for Solana and XRP. Analysts view this as a sign that investors are becoming more attracted to layer-1 blockchain assets with yield-generating features.
This ETF launch not only reinforces Solana’s position in the market but also reflects a broader trend: traditional finance is increasingly embracing crypto products that offer real utility and yield, such as staking. It may also pave the way for more multi-utility ETFs combining price exposure with decentralized finance (DeFi) features.
As institutional adoption grows and regulatory clarity improves, products like the REX-Osprey SOL + Staking ETF could set a new standard for how digital assets are offered to mainstream investors.
