Ripple Gains Major Regulatory Approval in Singapore
Ripple Labs has received a significant regulatory boost after Singapore’s Monetary Authority approved an expansion of the company’s Major Payment Institution (MPI) license. This upgrade solidifies Ripple’s position in one of the world’s most progressive crypto hubs and reinforces its long-standing commitment to the Asia-Pacific region.
The expanded authorization gives Ripple greater flexibility to support financial institutions and businesses driving rapid crypto adoption across APAC. Ripple President Monica Long described the approval as a testament to how innovation thrives under clear and consistent regulation. She emphasized that Ripple will continue investing in Singapore to advance faster, more secure cross-border payment infrastructure.
Expanded License Enhances Ripple’s Digital Asset Services
Although the full scope of new permissions has not been publicly detailed, Ripple Vice President Fiona Murray stated that the upgrade will significantly enhance the company’s ability to meet the region’s growing demand for digital asset solutions. This development aligns with Ripple’s broader strategy to strengthen its payment network and empower institutions adopting blockchain technology.
Ripple has maintained a strong presence in Singapore since 2017 and secured its initial MPI license in 2023, allowing it to provide digital payment token services. Today, its regulated payment network—powered by RLUSD and XRP—enables fast, end-to-end transactions, including fund collection, holding, swapping, and payouts. With the expanded license, Ripple is poised to further accelerate digital payments innovation throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
