US President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to his party, claiming that a Democratic victory in the upcoming midterm elections would almost certainly lead to a third impeachment inquiry. Speaking to House Republicans on Tuesday, Trump emphasized that the stakes of the November elections extend far beyond legislative control, framing the vote as a fight for his political survival.

“You got to win the midterms, because if we don’t win… they’ll find a reason to impeach me,” Trump told the delegation. “I’ll get impeached.”

The Legislative Gridlock: Crypto Policy and the Fight for the House

The President’s concerns come at a time when the GOP’s legislative agenda is already on shaky ground. Currently, the party is pushing for a landmark crypto market structure bill intended to provide a clear regulatory framework for the digital asset industry. Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott has indicated that this bill is headed for a critical vote next Thursday. However, if Republicans lose control of the House, this and other key policy goals could face total gridlock.

The political climate is increasingly challenging for the administration. Trump’s approval rating has dipped to 42%, with voters citing the rising cost of living as a primary concern. Additionally, the Republican base remains fractured over the handling of the Epstein files. These factors have contributed to a shift in momentum; current polling and prediction markets, such as Polymarket, suggest an 80% chance of Democrats flipping the House this November.

A Third Impeachment? Focus on Crypto and Congressional Resistance

If the Democrats successfully take the House, they are expected to move quickly to stall the President’s agenda. While Trump was impeached twice during his first term—once in 2019 regarding Ukraine and again in 2021 following the Capitol attack—a third attempt might focus on his recent financial entanglements. Figures like Representative Sean Casten and Senator Jon Ossoff have already suggested that Trump’s private dealings in the crypto space, including hosting exclusive events for holders of his personal memecoin, could serve as grounds for an investigation.

Despite the threat in the House, the Senate presents a different landscape. All members of the House are up for election, but only a third of the Senate is on the ballot. Current projections give Republicans a 67% chance of retaining the upper chamber. Because a two-thirds majority in the Senate is required for a conviction and removal from office, Trump would likely be acquitted once again, even if the House votes to impeach.

Nevertheless, the prospect of a divided Congress looms large. Even without a conviction, a Democrat-led House could effectively freeze Trump’s crypto-forward agenda and trigger two years of intense oversight and legislative stalemates.
