Genova noted that there is an “urgent need for an independent, universal digital symbol,” and that Unicode now has that responsibility. She pointed out that it’s unacceptable to have numerous emojis for money and dollars while the cryptocurrency community, which has faced years of scrutiny and changed global economics in just 15 years, has none. “Bitcoin is not just an asset; it’s a revolution that deserves recognition,” Genova said.
